“You humans fascinate me. I am shattered fragments of what I once was. But even with all the King’s horses and all the King’s men, I wonder if even I could truly comprehend you.”
Summary
After successfully evading death, science vessel Hypatia is on its way to Jump Station Heimdall, carrying the news about the atrocities committed by the BeiTech Industries. But the company is desperate to keep everything a secret. And they will stop at nothing to get rid of every single witness to their crimes.
Writing
I still can’t believe that it’s possible for a book written in such a unique way to be able to portray and express so many things. Reading this novel was a wonderful experience. This story is amazing on its own, but I am certain that if it was written as a regular book it wouldn’t have that big of an impact on me. Once again, kudos to the authors.
Characters
I love Hanna, Nik and Ella even more than I love Kady and Ezra (and I love Kady and Ezra A LOT).
I am going to repeat the point that I made in my Illuminae review – I firmly believe that the reason why I was able to fall in love with these characters so quickly is because we are reading their private messages. And there is something deeply personal about that. It makes them more human. More real.
Plot
Books like this one is why I have trust issues.
It really took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. There were so many ups and downs that I got dizzy more than once. But I loved every second of this. And somehow I still can’t wait for more.
The only thing that was kind of bugging me the whole time (and it’s nothing bad, it’s just a thought I had) is that this happens 500 years into the future and people discovered and even colonized all kinds of planets. And still there are only people. No aliens? Entire universe only for humans. That vision is kind of disappointing. And… lonely.
But it has nothing to do with the story whatsoever. So just ignore that.
Overall
I really can’t say anything negative about this book. I just can’t.
But if you struggled a little with Illuminae, you might like this book more. The action starts out much sooner and it’s easier to follow. Trust me, give it a try. You can thank me later.
You can find this book on Goodreads and Book Depository
I also gave it 5 stars, this is my favorite book in this series (which I gave 5/5 overall!)

Wow, I can’t believe someone agreed with me as well! For some reason I just adored Hanna and Nik (and Nik’s cousin, forgot her name) more than Kady and Ezra whom I loved A LOT. I think Nik really rubbed off on me, he’s so cute HAHA
